With the advent of the pandemic, the world has witnessed various transformations in the way we feel, work, live and be. This sudden surge of uncertainty has better exposed many imbalances across the personal, professional, social and environmental fronts. 

Launched at a special event at the Expo 2020 Tawazoun (meaning balance in Arabic) is a global think and do tank, an idea lab and a community that engages multiple stakeholders such as individuals, academia, public and private sectors, to devise practical tools and solutions to restore balance in people, workplaces, societies and the planet. 

It is a holistic initiative integrates the importance of balance in all aspects of life, for better outcomes. Balance is a fundamental part of the life’s ecosystem, and it’s about time that we take a step to make the world a better place.

Everybody needs a balance in their life, starting with you.  Though it can be tricky to find, this article will help you with tips on how to achieve that balance and maintain it.

The Importance of a Balanced Life

A balanced life helps you be more productive, happier, and healthier. When you have a good balance in your life, the minds and bodies are in sync. 

 Well-being is physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual. Make sure you are getting enough exercise and eating a healthy diet. Also, take  time to relax and de-stress.  Who is in your circle also matters, spending quality time with your loved ones help you stay balanced.

What does Balance Mean?

Balance means different things to different people. For some, it may mean having a healthy lifestyle that includes a well-balanced diet and regular exercise. For others, it may mean finding a work-life balance that allows them to have time for their families and hobbies outside of work.

No matter what your definition of balance is, it’s important to remember that it starts with you. You are the only one who can decide what is best for you and what will help you achieve a sense of balance in your life.

How to Achieve Balance in Your Work, Relationships, and Personal goals

It is so important to have balance in your life. When you are off balance, it can lead to problems in all areas of your life.  Here are some tips to help you get started:

  1. Set priorities and stick to them: It is important to know what is most important to you and to make sure that you are spending your time accordingly. If your job is a priority, then make sure that you are not spending too much time on other things.
  2. Make time for yourself: It is so important to nurture yourself and to make sure that you are taking care of yourself. Schedule time for yourself every day, even if it is just a few minutes. This time should be used for things like relaxation, exercise, or anything else that helps you relax and rejuvenate.
  3. Communicate with others: It is so important to communicate with the people in your life about what you need and want. If you feel like you are not getting enough acceptance from your loved ones, then talk to them about it. If you feel like your job is stressful, talk to your boss and brainstorm ways to deal with it 
  4. Be flexible: Things will come up in life that will throw you off-guard. Be prepared and show willingness to alter plans if necessary. 
  5. Seek help when needed. There is no shame in admitting when you feel not ok on the inside.

Balanced Diet

A balanced diet is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. There are many different ways to balance your diet, where in monitoring your nutrition intake is crucial. 

There are four main food groups: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and vitamins and minerals. Each one of these food groups provides essential nutrients that your body needs to function properly.

A balanced meal means the following: 

 

  • Carbohydrates are the body’s main source of energy. They’re found in foods like bread, pasta, rice, fruits, and vegetables.
  • Proteins are needed for growth and repair of tissues. They’re found in meats, poultry, seafood, beans, and nuts.
  • Fats are necessary for many bodily functions, including hormone production and insulation. They’re found in oils, butter, margarine, and fatty fish like salmon.
  • Vitamins and minerals are essential for many different functions in the body including metabolism, immunity, and bone health. They’re found in fruits and vegetables as well as fortified foods like cereals and milk.
